Tiya Caniel Maynard is an award-winning visual artist whose body of work spans over two decades. An alumna of the Culture Bearer Residency and current artist in residence in the American Landmark Artist in Residence program, Tiya is self-taught. As a multidisciplinary artist, Tiya’s visual work explores ancestral veneration, joy, liberation, and transformation, often using color, texture, and abstraction to evoke emotion and spaciousness.

She has exhibited her work in galleries and community spaces across the Carolinas and beyond. Her projects frequently merge visual art with immersive, healing experiences and inspire curiosity, wonder, groundedness, and feelings of freedom.
