I spent ten years feeling like I was heading in the wrong direction.
Exhausted, emotionally drained, and creatively depleted. The work I do at Blackbird Arts is personal. I know what it means to feel aimless and creatively unfulfilled. My goal is to give artists two things at once: a curator who can build the platforms their work deserves, and a manager who can protect their time, terms, and long-term career.
For a decade, I worked behind the scenes in various administrative roles, supporting lawyers, marketing managers, and CEOs.
I was a creative at heart, but I worked in fields that left little room for imagination. Over time, that disconnect became impossible to ignore. At the same time, I kept hearing a similar refrain from artists I admired: "It feels like there's never enough time to just create." Beyond the studio, artists are expected to be marketers, project managers, grant writers, and contract negotiators; and their work still needs someone thinking about where it's shown, who sees it, and what story it's telling. Few have support for either half of that equation.
Many wished they had a team to help carry the load. That’s when everything clicked…
I took the organizational and strategic skills I'd spent years refining in corporate spaces and applied them to the art world , building two disciplines side by side. I earned my Master's in Arts Administration from Winthrop University and spent 7 years developing exhibitions and public programming as an independent curator, while learning what it takes to manage an artist's career with the same rigor.

I became my first case study. Once I started treating my own creative practice, and my curatorial work, with the discipline of a business, everything shifted. I've curated and facilitated exhibitions with artists across the Southeast, brought institutional partners to the table, and helped generate thousands of dollars in art sales.
Blackbird Arts was born from that intersection: where curatorial vision meets business structure, and artists get both a platform for their work and a partner for their career.
